I was President of my High School's Rho KappaNov 04 2016Civil Engineering
I was President of my High School's Rho Kappa Society, I was a representative in Student Senate for 3 years, and in NHS for 1 year. I was also on Junior and Senior board during those respective years in high school. My ACT was around a 27, and my GPA was around a 3.75. I took 8 AP courses and 3 Honors classes in high school, and volunteered a good amount. It is not overly hard to get into Madison, but you're going to need to really try to get in.

I had a 3Oct 05 2013Biology
I had a 3.6 GPA and 27 ACT score, and was deferred and eventually let in. I only did one sport in high school, but took part in a summer foreign exchange program.

For the Wisconsin School of Business in particular, focusJul 14 2013Accounting
For the Wisconsin School of Business in particular, focus on grades, extracurricular involvement, and your field of interest. For the essays, write on something you are truly interested in. The admissions process is very holistic. It is not solely grades (which is why some people complain they had all A's and did not get in).

I didn't do anything in high school, I wasApr 18 2013Business - Management and Administration
I didn't do anything in high school, I was in the 25%, but I was mostly a jock. I don't know if 12 athletic letters helped, but I scored a 29 on the ACT and got in no problem. I have a friend who got in with a 23 and top 5% class rank. Anyways what I'm trying to say is, if you know your not super bright. (Top 10% standardized test scores) just get some good grades and the admissions people will ignore an average ACT score. The opposite is also true. If you have great standardized test scores, you can slack in high school and have fun. Even if you don't think you can get in, apply. I know people with test scores from 21-34 that attend school here. Its worth a shot and by FAR the best school in the Wisconsin and Minnesota.
ACT: 29 Male
Full International Baccalaureate StudentApr 10 2013History/Histories (art history/etc.)
Full International Baccalaureate Student. Took the hardest rigor of coursework possible in my school system, got out of high school with a 3.25 or so.

Work hard, do not skimp on classes in high school, and do not come to UW thinking you're hot stuff. Your classes here will likely be a slap in the face, even introductory course - and it's a good thing. If you can make it through your first year (ASK FOR HELP WHEN NEEDED), you should know enough about what you need to do to get the grade and the knowledge from each class.
